Twenty years ago, I founded WedLuxe in Canada as a magazine born from a passion for design. As a graphic designer, I wanted to create a publication that celebrated extraordinary weddings while shining a spotlight on the talented creative professionals
behind them.
I always intended to build a magazine. What I never imagined was that it would grow into a global media brand—or that media itself would change so profoundly. What was once a celebration of creativity and permanence has increasingly given way to algorithms, engagement metrics, and content designed to disappear almost as quickly as it’s
consumed.
Today, WedLuxe is headquartered in Florida, and my work extends beyond publishing into creative direction, branding, and event design. Yet despite everything that has changed, the reason I started WedLuxe remains exactly the same.
Over the past twenty years, I’ve watched our industry produceincreasingly extraordinary work while becoming increasingly comfortable letting it disappear. Months—sometimes years—of creativity are reduced to a few seconds on a screen before they’re replaced by
whatever comes next.
I don’t believe that’s enough.
The best creative work deserves permanence. That’s why we continue to print WedLuxe.
Publishing an independent print magazine today isn’t the obvious business decision. If it were, there would be many more of us. We continue because enough people still believe exceptional work is worth preserving.
I hope they always will.
That belief is reflected throughout the pages of this issue, including our cover celebration, Molly & Garrett’s wedding at Ireland’s ASHFORD CASTLE. Collaborating with BRUCE RUSSELL EVENTS and an extraordinary team of creative partners, I had the privilege of developing the visual identity for the wedding weekend, including the branding, stationery, digital experience, custom textiles, gifting, and environmental design.
Seeing that celebration come to life reminded me that the work I do as a designer and the work we publish in WedLuxe have always been driven by the same purpose: to create and preserve beautiful ideas.
As you turn these pages, I hope you’ll discover more than beautiful weddings. I hope you’ll notice the ideas behind them, the craftsmanship within them, and the remarkable people who continue to elevate this industry. If this issue encourages you to pause, look a little longer, and appreciate the artistry behind every celebration, then it has accomplished exactly what I hoped WedLuxe would do twenty years ago.
